Smoky Mountain Cinema

We went to the morning show they had for the kids this August. Two buses rolled in with little kids and over packed the place, it was an absolute nightmare. For parties that big they should be done privately and scheduled ahead. We had to sit in the front row and it was terrible. Great place but that should have been thought out a little bit better. I felt sorry for the employees too

I like to go to the movies at least once a week. I am spoiled by Cinemark, who has lounger seating, XD screens, buckets of popcorn, and lots of movies to choose from. This little movie theater in Waynesville has none of these luxuries. But it does have 3 screens and good popcorn, for which I am grateful. Thank you, Smokey Mountain Cinema!

Being the only cinema decently close to Maggie Valley and Waynesville, this is definitely a good option. This cinema may look small and maybe a little run down, but they really do a good job of showing an example of how looks may be deceiving. I was very impressed with how fair the prices were at this theater versus prices at a major chain like AMC or Regal. The inside lobby is small but has everything you would need. The rooms are different sizes, I was in the medium-sized room for watching Jumanji 2, this room was impressively good in terms of sound quality and the picture quality. There are some more rooms all very close to one another. They have a much smaller room and a much larger room. The seats were comfortable and allowed you to slightly recline back, not fully. The sound and screen were great quality, as mentioned before, but during my movie I was able to hear other movies adjacent to my screening room. The lights also were not turned off halfway through the trailers and they play the same three commercials over and over again until the trailers start. This is overall a nice small town cinema, don’t go in with the high expectations you would have with major chains like AMC or Regal.

Please take into consideration that this is an independent movie theater in a rather small town. That being said the theater has, let's say, an older look. It needs some repairs here and there. There are 3 or 4 theaters all of which are small. The service is very friendly. The theater is clean in spite of it's age. The sound system is surprisingly good. The seats could be a little more comfortable. Prices at the concession stand are what you would expect at any theater; high. Popcorn was good. AND... for the $6 to $10 a ticket price it is a very good deal. Especially since they are showing new blockbuster movies! I recommend this local theater with the understanding that it's not a new big theater.
